hi, I’m Sam,

I’ve been practicing yoga since I was in high school.  It drew me in immediately and kept me searching for more experiences and knowledge on the subject. Through my continuous searching I found yoga wherever I could, which at the time included random books at CVS, gyms and fitness studios, workout video programs, yoga (and Buddhist) literature.  I even went so far as to make yoga part of my elective studies in college. I loved the way it made me feel, but more importantly it made me really curious about myself, about everything, and it gave me something foundational to connect to that deeply uplifted me.  I had never experienced that before. About a decade from my first yoga class, a series of events landed me at a studio where I had the opportunity to train to become a teacher of yoga as well as indoor cycling (2010).  I loved it and knew I wanted to study more.  After teaching with that studio for 5 years and learning a lot about the art of teaching, I left teaching there to pursue studying yoga more seriously.  I completed my 200hr YTT & Anusara Immersion with Keric Morinaga & Rachel Jackson (204). A couple of years later completed my 300hr YTT & Anusara Certification with Keric Morinaga (2017).

Since then I’ve taken countless classes, immersions and intensives as a student and teacher to further study pranayama, trauma informed teaching, meditation, anatomy, mobility, the subtle body, yoga philosophy, de-colonizing yoga, accessible yoga, yoga for recovery, postural alignment, breathing mechanics, trauma and breath, mind body therapy, psychology and yoga, and physiology and yoga. I’ve also spent countless informal hours studying… for fun.

I’ve also taught countless in-person and virtual classes, workshops, and events to share the practice and offer uplifting experiences for community.

I love teaching and am continuously grateful to my teachers and all of the teachers who came before me for the privilege of passing on yogic knowledge.
